A delightful piece: a provincial Asian armoire paint decorated with an amber ground with flower filled vases, a fan and rectangular representations of pen and ink landscape paintings. Two small doors provide access to the interior. The feet are joined by a shaped stretcher. The cornice is offset on the right side (please see photos). We are uncertain of the age and precise origin of this piece, but estimate that it dates from the 19th century by virtue of the construction, wood shrinkage and wear to the painted finish. The form is consistent with Chinese origin. The width provided in the measurements is the widest part of the cornice. The body is 47" wide.
