A 19th c. French commode with black marble top, and three long drawers, the bottom two with round pulls, the top drawer "blind" and opening by use of finger grooves in the base of the drawer front. In addition to the handsome chased pulls, the front is decorated with pierced palmettes. The black marble top is nicely figured with gray veining and in keeping with the Empire style, the square legs are finished with a simple trim.
